mcgarrybowen, with a tight team and a killer client roster, is looking to add a mid-level strategic planner to the crew. We are the largest independent agency in New York and ranked 29 among Entrepreneur magazine's Hot 500 companies. Clients include Chase, Disney, Reebok, Wall Street Journal, Crayola, Kraft, Marriott, Chevron and more.

Ideal Candidate:

A strong, confident, and thoughtful personality is sought to help steward our client’s brands and our agency’s creative. Ideal candidates will have that unique combination of deep creative thinking, playfulness, analytical rigor, business acumen, and political savvy. Comfort with ambiguity and ability to triage are must-haves. Naturally curious and intellectually restless personalities dovetail best with our agency culture.

The candidate should be comfortable engaging with senior clients, presenting to a skeptical audience, and working with seasoned creatives. He or she should be able to seamlessly move from the boardroom to the street, interviewing people from all walks of life on the fly. Creative writing skills are essential.

Of course, core planning skills are prerequisite, including the ability to:

• Outline brand architectures

• Develop campaign platforms

• Define and articulate positions

• Write inspiring creative briefs

• Independently develop and execute research plans, both qualitative and quantitative

• Evaluate trend analysis, tracking studies, and market research materials

• Moderate focus groups, lead brainstorming sessions, and host affinity groups

• Develop and stage evocative presentations

• Build strong client relationships.

Most important, be a quick learner.

A typical candidate will have an undergraduate or Masters degree and 6-8 years of experience in account planning in one form or another. Travel is not uncommon.
